Somehow they always find me

The ballbearings of sadness

Hard and steely. They leave a taste in my mouth

Rusty like blood

They set my tongue on edge

They wake up the metal fillings in my mouth that have been there since I was a child

I can be peeling a potato at the sink; I look up

And run my tongue around my teeth

Somehow they always find me
